The pattern is woven into the cloth on both sides, not printed on one. It cannot fade off, and the sunken areas hold less sand than a flat pile does.

We had a choice to make: a thin, sand-shedding towel, or a thick one you'd actually want to lie on. We went big on comfort. There's less sand in the jacquard weave areas, and the roped tassels are wound tight so they don't collect half the beach - but a 600gsm cotton towel will hold some. That's the trade, and after a lot of testing it's the one we'd make again.

Some, yes. It is a 600gsm cotton towel, and that is the trade for a towel you actually want to lie on. The woven areas hold less, and one good shake takes most of it.

The pattern is woven rather than printed, so there is nothing on the surface to fade off. Cold wash and line dry keeps the colour.
You can, but do not. Heat makes cotton stiff and shortens its life. Line dry and it stays soft.
