Two best mates and a salty idea
We got tired of sinking into flimsy beach chairs, so we started building our own. Cardboard mock-ups on the lounge room floor, then a frame, then something you could actually sit in.
Pick a vibe and we'll point you to the perfect setup.

The Salty Blog
More beach days, more stories, more sunsets. It's the sand and the waves, but mostly it's the people you're there with, slowing down and staying a little longer.
We're two best mates who spend most of our free time at the beach, and for years we did it sitting on chairs that sank, tipped, or fell apart by the second summer. Eventually the complaining got boring and we started building instead.
There's no design department here - it's the two of us. Everything we make gets tested by us, on our local beaches, until it's good enough to share with you. Every seat, cabana and towel we sell has been sat on, packed down and rinsed off by one of us first.
That's also why we answer our own emails. If something's wrong with your order you're talking to one of us, and we'd rather sort it out than argue about it.

Drag the timeline, or pick a year.

We got tired of sinking into flimsy beach chairs, so we started building our own. Cardboard mock-ups on the lounge room floor, then a frame, then something you could actually sit in.

The first run went out the door and didn't come back. It was the best thing that could have happened and also the most confronting - people had opinions, and they were right about most of them.

Rather than reorder, we pulled the seat down to the frame. Higher-density foams, a protective sleeve around the frame, cushioning at every hinge, and a removable outer you can put through the wash.

A seat isn't a beach day on its own. So there's a cabana with its own shade wall, and a 600gsm towel in the same four colours. Same rule as always - we don't sell it until we'd use it ourselves.
The easy move would have been to reorder the same thing. Instead we spent a year rebuilding it from the frame up, because the feedback was fair and we'd rather be late than sell the same seat twice.

Not a lab, not a showroom. Seven beaches across two states, in real wind and real sand, until something either holds up or gets sent back to the shed.
Told plainly, because you're the reason any of it moves.
Small numbers, real people. Every one of them ordered from us and wrote it themselves.

We're in a handful of independent stores around Australia, and we're always after more. If you run a shop that'd suit us, get in touch - we deal with stockists ourselves.
It's one of us on the other end, usually within a day. Questions about which setup suits you, warranty, an order that's gone sideways - all the same inbox.
